January 11, 2009
Sunday, January 11th. Fans of the latest electronic gadgets have been focused on Las Vegas the last few days, where the International Consumer Electronics show winds up today. This is the world’s largest annual trade show for consumers — and the largest annual trade show of any kind in the U.S. It draws some 130,000 people annually from around the world. Attendees include manufacturers of every sort of electronic device, as well as retailers, engineers and those who create the programs people watch, listen to and play on those devices. There are nearly 36,000 electronics stores across the U.S., which ring up more than $49 billion in sales each year. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau online at www.census.gov.
