CES 2009: Magensa™ Makes Online Shopping and Banking Faster, Easier and Safer with the New QwicKey™ Portable Online Security Device

January 8, 2009

Magensa, a premier authentication solutions provider, today announced the launch of QwicKey, a new portable online security device that delivers superior password management, automated form completion and one-click login. Working with a secure magnetic stripe reader, browser software and the existing magnetic stripe cards in consumers’ wallets (credit cards, payment cards, many state licenses, insurance cards and other forms of identification), QwicKey enables consumers to quickly, accurately and safely use their personal information without risk.

Consumers today use a password and user name for just about every secure transaction they perform. However, some consumers put themselves at risk by using the same user name and password on all of their sites – opening themselves up to massive damages if there is a security breach. Other consumers are faced with remembering countless user names and passwords that often interfere with online transaction processing, which can already require a substantial amount of text and typing each time a consumer attempts to enter a new secure site. QwicKey saves consumers time and provides convenience without exposure to the risk of compromised personal data.

The portable online security device provides greater safety than other password managers by enabling consumers to simply swipe their card to execute a secure transaction. Account information is accessed from the card, while no critical elements, like credit card account numbers or identification access codes, are stored on the computer. Consumers only type in their profile information once during activation, so they never have to type in their card information and risk the security controls of individual sites. This makes it virtually impossible for cyber attacks to access critical data.

“QwicKey allows online consumers to have the same checkout experience and security benefits they enjoy when shopping at traditional retail locations right at their desktop,” says Larry Meyers, C.S.O. of MAGENSA, LLC. “Users simply swipe their trusted payment card, make a few mouse clicks, and complete their transaction.

QwicKey enhances online security by eliminating the possibility of sensitive consumer data being stolen by keyboard loggers or virus programs, and provides consumers with the confidence and peace of mind of knowing that their online identities and assets are safe.”

QwicKey uses a secure Magnetic Stripe Reader that fits in the palm of your hand, providing portability and an easy to use device that consumers are already familiar with. Consumers’ profiles are secured with an Access Card they choose and a Master Password they select which is encrypted and stored at the Magensa Secure Data Center. QwicKey also provides single sign-on password management to simplify account log-in, and text auto-fill features that eliminate the need to manually enter consumer information for each transaction or store sensitive personal information at numerous websites. Consumers will be able to access their profile from any PC loaded with QwicKey software by using their QwicKey components. As an added benefit, Qwickey will soon allow consumers and merchants to utilize secure online coupons that provide rewards for preferred customers and marketing benefits for retailers.

Downloads of the QwicKey software are completely free. QwicKey’s MSRP starts at $49.95 and includes the complete QwicKey kit and a free first year subscription. Additional annual subscriptions start at $29.95.
