— Today, Oracle announced world record SPECjAppServer2004 benchmark
results across two categories for Oracle Fusion Middleware.
— Oracle Application Server

components of Oracle Fusion Middleware
(http://www.oracle.com/products/middleware/index.html) — together with
Oracle Database 11g (http://www.oracle.com/database/index.html) running
on HP servers — delivered world record multi-node and single-node
benchmark results respectively.
— These benchmark results further demonstrate Oracle Fusion Middleware’s
leadership in Java application server performance and efficiency.
— Today’s announcement supports Oracle’s strategy of delivering complete,
integrated and end-to-end product suites on an open, standards-based
middleware and database architecture. Oracle’s approach helps customers
to simplify computing environments, lower cost and risk, and provides
greater choice and flexibility.

Benchmark Details

— World record multi-node benchmark result: Oracle Application Server
10g Release 3 together with Oracle Database 11g achieved 17,046.40
SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second).
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 was running on 12 HP Integrity
BL870c server blades, each with four Dual-Core Intel(R) Itanium(R) 1.6
GHz processors. The database server was running on an HP Integrity
Superdome server with 56 Dual-Core Intel(R) Itanium(R) 1.6 GHz
processors and HP StorageWorks 8100 Enterprise Virtual Arrays. Both
application server and database tiers were running HP-UX 11i v3.
— World record single-node benchmark result: Oracle WebLogic Server 10g
Release 3 with Oracle Database 11g achieved 4,410.07 SPECjAppServer2004
JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second). Oracle WebLogic
Server 10g Release 3 was running on a HP ProLiant DL580 G5 four socket
server with the new Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor X7460 2.66 GHz with
6-cores and 16M L3 Cache and HP StorageWorks 70 Modular Smart Arrays.
Oracle Database 11g was running on an identical hardware configuration.
Both application server and database machines were running Oracle
Enterprise Linux.

application server benchmarks on a broad range of hardware and software
platforms. Oracle is the performance and price/performance leader in
multiple SPECjAppServer2001(3) and SPECjAppServer2002(4) benchmark
categories and also holds the world records for best performance and

performance of a representative J2EE application and each of the
