Fotocommunity’s slogan for photokina 2008 is “experiencing photography”. The stand of Germany’s largest Internet community for photography will be located in Hall 9 (stand: B54/D55), where it will serve as a central nexus and meeting point for dedicated amateur photographers. On an activity area measuring 700 square meters, fotocommunity will provide photokina visitors with a highly varied program that offers something for almost every photography enthusiast. The offerings include daily workshops and photo shoots, a free-of-charge Internet café in the lounge area, a big photo exhibition, daily sweepstakes with high-quality prizes, and the fotocommunity WorldConvention. They are that magical special ingredient - and make photokina such a truly unique experience: the many fascinating photography exhibitions by prominent artists and talented amateur photographers
The fascination of the image - and of technical innovations - is always the central focus of photokina. You will find proof of this in numerous impressive photography exhibitions throughout the fair that invite visitors to explore the boundless possibilities of expression offered by photography. This year, photokina will present a photo exhibition organized by the German Association for Photography (DVF) on the occasion of its 100-year anniversary, as well as the results of the EISA Photography Competition on global warming and the current exhibition by the organization Reporters Without Borders entitled “Blurring the Lines.” In addition, visitors to the World of Imaging will discover what enormous creative potential today’s amateur photographers have, by visiting the many presentations throughout the fair. During today’s opening press conference IFA received an award from the Land of Ideas, acknowledging its contribution towards future viability.
IFA is one of a number of winners in the nationwide competition to promote innovation in Germany, “365 Locations in the Land of Ideas“. The panel of judges were not only impressed by the innovative strengths of exhibitors at IFA but also by the Science and Technology Forum (TWF), which has been one of the central features of IFA for many years. US-experts discuss the newest trends and innovations of IFA 2008
IFA 2008 welcomes experts from all over the world who introduce and discuss the newest innovations in technology and product design. On 29 and 30 August the American point of view is presented by seven top US journalists – amongst them the blogging star Robert Scoble, the New York Times columnist Larry Magid and US Today’s Ed Baid. During three special IFA discussions they will take a look at the latest trends in consumer electronics and home appliance.
