GDC 2008: Organic Motion to Open Markerless Motion Capture Studio and Demo Facility in UK
February 21, 2008
Organic Motion, the leading innovator of computer vision and highly advanced markerless motion capture systems, has announced the opening of the industry’s only full-body markerless motion capture studio for European markets. Organic Motion is opening its first international service center and demo site, branded Studio 7, in London, owned and operated by production company, Atticus Finch. Studio 7 will provide customers in the UK and Europe with full demonstrations of Organic Motion’s STAGE and BioSTAGE turnkey markerless systems, available for extensive production services. Organic Motion will also showcase STAGE during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Feb. 20-22, 2008 in the North Hall, Booth #5228.
Already transforming game development, Organic Motion’s markerless technology improves every step of the character animation process by capturing movements in real-time - without the use of tracking devices or cumbersome body suits - and streaming clean tracking data directly into Autodesk(R) MotionBuilder(TM). Organic Motion’s breakthrough system, a major advance in computer vision technology, can track individual subjects in rapid succession and in real-time.
“We now offer the most technologically advanced and comprehensive markerless service in the entertainment industry,” said Andrew Tschesnok, CEO, Organic Motion. “We know that its ease of use and improvements in quality will not only impact the gaming industry, but will also shape live-action and 3D animations for cinema, television and Internet productions to come.”
“Studio 7 is all about providing the latest production technologies in both the film and animation realms, to the fast growing UK and European markets,” said Chris Richmond, Managing Director, Studio 7. “We are proud to be associated with the leading edge commercial 3D animation technologies provided by Organic Motion.”
Organic Motion’s technology is currently available in three platforms:
– STAGE(TM) - a powerful turnkey motion capture system that redefines content creation and animation production capabilities for the entertainment industry.
– BioSTAGE(TM) - engineered for the life sciences, providing high level biomechanics analysis to doctors, researchers and sports professionals, providing instant ability to analyze human movement.
– OpenSTAGE(TM) - the company’s most innovative use of its core technology, enabling customized motion systems for use in public venues.
