Yahoo, neben Google und Microsoft der dritte große Betreiber von Suchmaschinen, hat den Werbevermarkter Right Media komplett übernommen. Der Preis betrage 680 Millionen Dollar, teilte der Konzern am Montag mit. Yahoo hatte bereits im Oktober für 45 Millionen Dollar eine Beteiligung von 20 Prozent an Right Media erworben. Das Unternehmen bietet eine Auktionsplattform für Internet-Werbeplätze und verfügt über eine Technologie, mit der Anzeigenkunden in Echtzeit für Werbeplätze bieten können. So will Right Media gezielte Werbung für eng umrissene Gruppen ermöglichen, wie sogenannte soziale Netzwerke. Yahoos größter Rivale im Internet-Werbemarkt, Google, hatte seine Position im Online-Anzeigenmarkt erst kürzlich durch den Kauf des Werbeunternehmens Doubleclick gefestigt. Google zahlte damals 3,6 Milliarden Dollar.
